Control bus is bidirectional as it transfer the control & synchronization signals from control unit to all devices and also do the same from all hardware devices to control unit.
There are two more bus address bus(unidirectional) and data bus(bidirectional)

A control bus by definition is bi-directional. Bi-directionality can be achieved by dedicated command lines from the controller and dedicated status lines from the peripheral or controlled device. It can also be achieved by using a bidirectional data bus in conjunction with the dedicated status and command lines.
The simplest example of a bi-directional control/data bus is a PC parallel port. In addition to the 8 bi-directional data lines there are a number of control and status lines. http://www.beyondlogic.org/spp/parallel.htm describes the operation of the PC parallel port and how to interface with it. A more complex control/data bus is the Bus/Tag channel of an IBM mainframe with 19 control lines. http://www.hydrasystems.com/hydra_systems/pages/404.html
