I have several size of metal rods, ranging from 1/4" to 3/4", that I would like to cut into small slices that are aprx. 1mm thick. I am not opposed to buying equipment, I just need to know what to buy. I have tried to make a jig and use a jewelers saw, but the saw blade keeps cutting through my jig material. If anyone has an idea on what to use, or how I could make a jig to allow me to cut consitent discs I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Try a water jet cutter. Find a local machinist that has one, and ask him to cut some on a trial basis. I have seen these used in custom car television programs like American Hot Rod, Orange County Choppers, etc. Also look into a laser cutter.

If you want copper discs of various diameters, surely it would be more cost effective if you bought 1mm. copper sheet, and had punches and dies of different diameters to fit in a small hand press?

Cut your thinnest slice and grind/sand it down to your thickness.
