Power is consumed, the length of time it is consumed is the energy used.
To answer your question, individual home power consumption depends on the appliances in use.
You can take a total power consumption as ALL appliances being on at the same time.
You just need to add the power of all appliances.
Maximum consumption, or demand is calculated as being the most appliances being on at any particular period in a 24 hour period.
There may be an AVERAGE power, or energy usage per household available from the electricity supplier for your area.
