*Depends upon flow and pressure pipe schedules are selected.Accordingly ID,OD can be known.

*Specification: API SPEC 5L

Grade: X52

Size: from 12" to 28", OD up to 711.2 mm

Wall Thickness From up to 80 mm

Schedule: SCH40, STD, SCH80, XS, SCH160, XXS etc.

Length: 5.8 meters for 20' container, 6 meters to 12 meters for 40' container.

Above specification are for cross-country/across country pipeline.

If you want to know the ID and OD of a pipe , please click on the following link.here you will get data for the sizes mentioned above.:

Gas pipelines vary in diameter from as small as 6" up to 42" with the wall thickness being set by the design pressure and the material that the pipe is made from. The location of the pipeline relative to schools, houses, highways and other structures or locations where people might gather also has a bearing on pipeline design.

Each pipeline is custom designed to maximum capacity and minimize costs so there are no Standard thicknesses.

This site has a lot of information of typical pipeline pipe. 24 to 30 inch pipe is not unusual for cross country pipelines

The first question I have is - what country are you in - we have different criteria for the Uk as for the US, France, Belgium etc

I am then assuming that you are looking at the main pipeline for domestic consumption, or for transportation of gas to wholesale? these use two very different piping systems and also give you different dimensions as you have to work with the volume and pressure used in these circumstances - so no one can give you a definite answer unless the question can be asked - however with a bit of work you will most likely be able to determine this yourself - you have to determine what the hydraulic diameter of the pipe and under what bar pressure to give you the actual inner diam and outer diam of the pipe systems

There are dual 20 inch high pressure gas mains that run from the north through Washington and Oregon. These are natural gas, not gasoline. Here's a map:
