I d like to make Dialga from Pokemon, and I d like to make a majority of his body see through. So I m going use a 3d modeling program to design his body, but I need to know: Are there any filament types for a 3d printer that print clearly? If not, I have a work around for it, but it s much harder the other way.

Thanks,

The answers about the entrained air messing up the clarity are correct - what you probably need to do is print the 3D form in an high temperature filament as your machine will handle and then use that to form moderately thin acrylic sheet (Plexiglas) that has been heating in a home oven - handling it with cotton gloves and arranging hold downs as to shape. http://mikegigi.com/whirljig.htm#ANEMOM

If you can locate clear filament for a 3D printer, you need to know the body will not be clear. Tiny air gaps will be visible. To make a clear body you need to cut the body out of a thick piece of Plexiglas, acrylic, or clear polycarbonate. You can use woodworking tools to form the shape you want, and then the piece must be highly polished.

Yes, there are clear filaments.
