How to calculatet the tank capacity (in litres)?

i am little bit confusing. How to calculate the tank capacity( in litres)
give me such a good formula to calculate the capacity

for example if i am having one drum how much liquid is available int this drum,.

Well there are many types of tanks. There are also many formulas on the net. For a drum that is round with flat top and bottom it is pi X radius^2 x height of drum all divided by 1000. If all your measurements are in meters then this will work.

Yep, you sure are a little bit confusing. You have to first clarify what you want calculate? gallons to liters? or do you want to calculate the capacity of the unkown drum? If that's the case, all you have to do is measure the radius. You take the radius and multiply it by itself. Then you multiply it by pi, which is 3.14. Then you multiply it by the height of the drum. For example.



Radius is 50 centimeters and the hight is 75 centimeters.



50x50x3.14x75 = 588,750 cubic centemeters



1 cubic centimeter = .001 liters



So the capacity of the drum is 588.75 liters

Look at the markings on the side, they usually tell you the capacity.



Seriously though; it depends what shape the tank is, a cylindrical water tank is different to a spherical gas tank. Just use the standard volume formulae for whatever shape the tank is.

The volume of a cylinder can be calculated by multiplying pi times the radius squared and multiplying that product by the length of the cylinder. If you measure in centimeters, your answer will be in cubic centimeters which are the same as milliliters. There are 1000 of them in a liter.

I understand that, your drum has a differand structure and you can not use standart formulas. Best way fill this drum with water completaly after filling measure this water with a standart liter vessel.

that depends on your tank shape so you must know the volume of your tank then convert this volume in to liters whier 1 liter = 1cubic decimeter.. so if we have a cube with L= 1m ,W=1m ,H=1m that will be of 1 cubic meter and that equal 1000 cubic dm which equal 1000 liter as well.. and equal 1000 kilograms ,, if it contains pure water with density 1.000 g/ml.
