I have skill in using Creo 3D CAD software, but due to cognitive disability I could not work in traditional engineering or drafting job setting, under time pressure.

Im wondering if anyone has done this type of work from home, either freelance or on contract/etc...?

Yes, you can do it, but you need the program on your computer.

It's an _expensive_ program

I have done Solidworks at home, in airports, in hotels, many places. You need your software, computer, and an internet connection is helpful. Usually, when I have done that design work in nonstandard places, it was due to time pressure. Most places always want more faster than anyone can deliver.

I use a consultant for Solidworks drafting/design who works from home. He does have a normal day job, but moonlights from home. If you work from home, you still need to market yourself and do face to face visits with customers. If you get a large enough customer base that is happy with your work, marketing will happen by word of mouth.
