Info:
Supply - Motorcycle generator, +\- 14VAC, Voltage and frequency varying with RPM.
Required Output - 12VDC, around 5W
Components - W08 bridge rectifier, 100uF 25V Cap, 10uF 63V Cap, 1uF 100V cap, LM7812 regulator
Load - 4 x LED ribbon with 3 LEDs each, 1x T10 socket LED

Problem: i do not know to use the rectifier components. I need help on the circuit in detail. Please tell me which leads of the bridge to use where? How to connect the regulator? What caps to use where? Should i use lower voltage caps instead of 63V and 100V? Should i change the cap's uF? What is problem in using a high V and uF cap? Should i use the W005 instead of the W08? And finally will this setup behave like a normal load (eg bulb) at the end of the wire or will it create problems for the rest of the electrical system? Please try to answer all my questions. Thank you.

So far I will tell you as follows:

1) Connect the bridge rectifier which has ~(Which is a AC symbols) symbols like this to the supply 14 v AC.

2) Connect +ve terminal of 100micro.farad,25 v dc capacitor(Which is an electrolytic capacitor) to the + of the bridge rectifier & -ve to the -ve terminal - of the same bridge rectifier.

3)LM 7812 is a 12 v, voltage regulator IC, It has three legs for input and output.

4)Refer the data book or on line to identify its legs its its I/P & O/P terminals Now I do-not remember the leg identification). No worry , if you have data books it will tell you details about this chip(You should know how to use this), if not you could refer it to the on line websites.

5)According to the above , you connect the LM7812 IC, one leg Will common to both input & output.

6)You connect input side across the capacitor.

7) You will get the connections of 10Mf,63v capacitor & 1Mf,100v capacitor through the concept of your data from the data book or from on line web sites.

8) For the load you are referring , I do not have the concept of the socket you are saying, so identify the socket LED first, connect it to the O/p.

8) In this case, practically no problem of using high w.v. with high MF but of course filtering action (Frequency functioning ) will be different which we will not be able to differentiate visually. The values must not be of difference of high value. Another part of it is the cost. Higher w.v. with higher Mf will cost you much more.

You make simple task become a complex task. If you only need to power a few LED,you do not need any rectifier, filter and regulator. Feed the 14 volt AC through a suitable resistor to power the LED shall do. LED does not need DC to power it up. LED is a diode that can rectify small voltage AC power source.

A DPDT relay will do the trick, in case you decide directly to regulate it electrically. examine that the contacts are rated for the voltage and modern-day utilized by utilising the motor. The coil voltage (aC or DC) has to examine regardless of you're utilising to regulate it.
