what u have to do is draw half circle. draw a vertical line to connect each end and then use the revolve tool.

Yes, there is just a little button you can hit. In the create tab hit sphere. create tab has an icon of a cursor clicking on a white star. after you click on the sphere button just click and drag to chose the diameter.
You might want to take a few tutorials about Autodesk software. I don't think there are many on the inventor but all the early 3ds ones should be relatively the same.
