I am in grade 11 and currently enrolled in the international baccalaureate diploma programme, and for my group 4 project my group is calculating the drag caused by water-born parasites attaching themselves to the hull of a fishing vessel. I am going to make a water tunnel to calculate experimentally the drag, but i would like to be able to use a computer simulator to find the drag theoretically as well. I would like to be able to make the hull of the boat in a CAD program and then calculate the water flow around it. Any advice would be appreciated.

There is no such thing as free CFD software.

You may be able to talk one of the CFD sofware companies into letting you have 30 or 60 day trial for your project.

OpenFOAM is a set of open source CFD solvers. You need to generate your mesh in a different program, however.
