I'm basically asking for a list of all the things you can think of that can be powered by 2 AA batteries.

Most interesting answer gets 10 points... Preference will be given to things with moving parts or high current draw (or both)...

Even though the voltage can be 1.5 volts (Parallel) or 3 volts (Series) you can power devices you may not think possible simply by using a DC-DC coverter.

Look up the "joule thief", this enables you to use even a single AA battery thats even "dead", to power an LED which normally cannot run on a single AA because of the low voltage provided.

A joule thief is a simple buck-boost converter which can up the 1.5 volts to as much as 50 volts!

So, you can power quite a bit with a couple of AA batteries :)

You would have to add six (6) more AA batteries, which would have to be fastened outside the flashlight, and then replace the 3-volt bulb with a 12-volt bulb, which would be a different size and shape, so you would have to modify the flashlight extensively. So the answer, in practical terms, is NO. It would not be worth the trouble. Go to the nearest discount store or hardware store and spend a few bucks on a 12-volt flashlight.
