The term "project deliverables" is usually encountered in memorandum of agreement, contract and in some project management / planning forms like a GANNT chart or an action plan (after project objectives have been identified). Project deliverables simply mean what the service provider or the project itself can deliver at the end of the project. Some project managers use project deliverables interchangeably with objectively verifiable indicators since a deliverable must be verifiable or lends itself to an independent audit or verification. For example, a project involving a feeding activity for malnourished children could have a deliverable of "30 poor families fed with nutritious meals" or "fed entities: 30 poorest families in the village."

A project deliverable is what is expected when the project is completed. A deliverable is the item why the endeavor is being undertaken and it can be measured quantitatively.

Project deliverables are tangible results of a project, they will have been the reason for the projects' inception and will be abstracted in the terms of reference which in itself is a deliverable and further detailed in the project scope and definition, high level definition, detailed specifications, phase review and sign off etc etc.
