The only problem for you is the attitude of men in a male dominated field. If you truly want to be an engineer (in any branch of engineering) then there is nothing to stop you.

This time nothing is bad for girls, but u have to show your dedication and hardworking ability. As per your question i suggest you go for CSE or IT but ECE is also good for girls. In ECE you have Chance for Civil Services.

Women Engineers are slowly becoming more and more prevalent in the field. The reality is that there ARE less women in engineering, but if you have a passion, sex shouldn't make a difference. The engineering branches for men and women are the same. Good luck.

Where I live, there are equality laws that are in place to make sure men and women are treated the same.
In fact, some reverse discrimination happens where awards are offered to women, not men, for successful completion of their degree.
Any "branch" or discipline you want, is an option. Follow your aptitude and preferences.
Practically, however, I observed a higher ratio of women in chemical and civil engineering, and a lower ratio of women in electrical and software. Perhaps there is a correlation between gender and preferred discipline.

engineering certainly is a good option for girls. there is good scope . if your interested in computers computer science is best for you . i offers career in software designing , a forever widening field .besides there are oterh branches which mainly require computer work than the field work

it is very disappointing to know.. dat people consider engineering not a suitable option for girls..
just to tell u .. i am myself a girl.. studying electronics and communication engineering in a well reputed government engineering college of our state.. and we are struggling equally with the guys.. moreover.. i topped in my last semester.. which can prove the reverse,\.. dat if gals shud not be engineers den guys should not even dream of it.. to be very honest.. EDUCATION DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE GENDER.. well you should study hard.. focus...
to talk about a stream i would suggest yo to go for ECE.. it has a wide scope in future.. nd trust me the subject is very very interesting. only you need to crave into the details for the right concept.

Heck yes. Yes, even in India -- while I'm not from that culture, I've worked with a few who've come here for grad school with a BS in CE and pretty much any other engineering discipline as well. Presuming you have the base intelligence level and interest, you can do anything you want to if you're willing to work for it. Here, CE is actually one of the most popular for girls/women to go into. Other favorites seem to be chemical, environmental, and biological/biochemical/biomedial engineering. There are currently people in everything, though. It's a lot of work, sure, but. . . not so bad if you like solving problems and seeing what challenges you can handle. The rest really varies by discipline as well as where you end up working and something as silly as the other people you're working with and for. There tends to be a lot more writing and general use for communications skills than most people are expecting once you get out into the real world, people who've actually gone out there rather than stay in grad school forever :) tell me.
It's not magic, it's physics!

Engineering is a great career option for girls in all fields.
What are the good engineering branches for girls?
All of them. All. Of. Them. ALL. OF. THEM.
In college, there is a dismal girls-to-boys ratio in engineering classes -- I'm talking 15 to 1 or 30 to 1. And yet in the places I interviewed and the place I now work, it's pretty even between men and women, which is a good indication that engineering firms like to hire women.
