I want to know how much I can connect to it before I need accessories such as a powered usb hub, or some sort of module to run motors or other electrical components.

There are two sources of output power. One is from the available USB sockets, which in the case of your Pi 2 model B is up to 1.2A. The other is from the GPIO pins, which offer a maximum of 16 mA per pin, with a total not exceeding 51mA.
I can understand that you might not want to run two power supplies, but it really is better practice to run motor supplies separately and not let the Raspberry Pi get too warm.

A standard usb port supplies 500 milliamps.

Use a hub. Drawing too much from the Pis ports will fry the Pi. You certainly cannot power a motor directly from the Pi.

Looks like 600mA/1.2A switchable. https://www.raspberrypi.org/help/faqs/#power
